HALF DAY FIRST AID SCENARIOS

If you enjoy getting into the outdoors but don’t feel confident in your first aid skills then this short course is for you. Our half day scenario based courses give you the structure and confidence in how to approach a ‘worst case’ situation.

TRAINING EXAMPLES

1. Mountain Medicine Avalanche Scenario
You are out skiing with friends and are caught in an avalanche. One of your friends is buried.  You find them using your transceiver training skills but they are unconscious and not breathing.  What do you do next?

This ½ day course will train you in:

  • Approach to the injured casualty
  • CABCDE assessment
  • Basic Life Support and CPR guidelines
  • Simple airway management
  • Packaging and moving injured casualties.
  • Talking to emergency services – how to deliver medical information.

2. Mountain Medicine Injured Skier Scenario
You are out ski touring with friends and one of the skiers falls sustaining a head injury and broken leg. What do you do next? You need to call for help, assess the casualty, give appropriate first aid treatment and splint the injured limb.

 This ½ day course will train you in:

  • Approach to the injured casualty
  • CABCDE Assessment
  • Head injuries
  • Splinting limbs
  • Moving and lifting injured casualties
  • Talking to emergency services and how to deliver information
