THIS COURSE IS NOW TAKING PLACE 19-26TH NOVEMBER 2022
The course will provide you with an opportunity to examine policies and strategies that affect health and healthcare globally. Through visiting remote communities and rural clinics you will see first hand the global health challenges that affect LMICs.

You will talk to health professionals, community health workers and community elders to gain in depth knowledge of how the Sustainable Development Goals interact with health and healthcare practice in the global context.
The course is held on the world renowned conservation site of Lewa Wildlife Conservancy where you will hear from world leading experts in Global Health Conservation and the impact of Human Wildlife Conflict.
We will explore key factors that contribute to global inequalities (including sociological, cultural, economic, environmental and policy) and examine actions that can be taken to tackle these.

Volunteering: Legal considerations, practicalities, safety and ethics of volunteering overseas
Leparua clinic visit: Understanding importance of culture in health. Covid as an example
How to implement primary health systems in rural communities
Global Health and Conservation – Introduction
Human vs animal health: How wildlive grows health communities
Human Wildlife conflict and conservation implications
Visit the anitpoaching operation centre and understand complex relationship of poaching, community and economy.
Day spent in Lewa or Leparua clinic and laboratory with the clinical officer and lab technician. You will have the opportunity to observe patients and testing methods and hear first hand of the challenges facing patients in rural communities.
All necessary PPE is provided.
